With exhibitions that stretch out through the entire house, Marres distinguishes itself from other art centers. These full-environment art installations take over rooms, hallways and staircases and connect walls, floors and ceilings. They immerse visitors in a landscape of shifting perspectives, uncharted walking routes and stimulate their sensory experience.
Previously, Marres turned into a baroque city palace, a dense jungle, a rooftop landscape, a museum for live movement, a concert hall and an inhabited townhouse.
An important pillar within the exhibition program is the yearly group exhibition Currents, part of a broader talent development program in coproduction with Z33 in Hasselt (BE). Currents offers recently graduated artists from academies in Belgium, Germany and the south of the Netherlands a platform for professionalization.
