With an elaborate program, Marres explores the physical and sensory experience of contemporary culture. Marres does this with exhibitions that move through the house like a landscape, a workshop series named Training the Senses that focuses on the intersection of art and science, and a participation and education program for groups from primary school students to the elderly. With the talent development program Currents, Marres offers young makers a platform for professionalization. Marres also issues unique publications and develops walks in the city and region with artists.
Marres also regularly opens its doors and garden to young makers, for instance with the performance festival ROOMS, participates in the yearly Museumnacht Maastricht, offers space to the FASHIONCLASH Festival and is active outside the museum walls at events like Bruis and carnaval. Behind the house, you find a lush city garden where Marres regularly organizes activities like picknicks, performances or fruit picking afternoons.
