As part of the 2025 Boekenweek (Book Week), Marres is offering free admission to all visitors on Sunday, March 23, with the Boekenweek gift “De krater“ by Gerwin van der Werf.
Come by and explore Vultures & Fireflies by Alejandro Galván—a painted chronicle of Mexico from the perspective of Nezahualcóyotl, one of the country’s largest working-class neighborhoods. Through his work, Galván aims to show that he and his fellow residents are not “marginalized” or “forgotten” but are simply part of a group with an unheard story. A story that shares fundamental connections with the experiences of people from other countries, cities, villages, or even different times. Galván paints because he does not want any story to be lost.
You will receive the Boekenweek gift during Boekenweek, from March 12 to March 23, when you purchase €15 worth of books at a bookstore.
