About Marres

Marres, House for Contemporary Culture, explores new developments in international visual arts by organizing exhibitions, commissioning new work, and investigating diverse artistic practices. Marres does this in collaboration with visual artists, performers, musicians, designers, and dancers. It also offers a varied education and public program focused on body language and the workings of the senses. With a large public garden and a popular restaurant, Marres is a meeting place for everyone.

About Extended

Extended is the youth program of Marres in collaboration with the Jan van Eyck Academie. In this program, young people work in teams for a set period on a socially engaged art project. As a communications intern, you help make Extended visible and inspire young people to participate. You will dive into the world of our target audiences, research where and how to reach them most effectively, and translate that into a smart communications strategy. You will then create and execute campaigns with engaging content and the appropriate use of (online) channels.

What will you do?

  • Create content for Extended: from writing engaging and inspiring texts to producing visually appealing images and captivating videos for our social media channels. You will have the freedom to independently develop your creative ideas and actively contribute to strengthening our online identity and engaging our audience.
  • Conduct market and target audience research to improve content and campaigns.
  • Increase the visibility and impact of our programs, such as Extended, both online and offline.
  • Analyze data from sources such as Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and audience surveys, and translate it into concrete ideas and improvements. Knowledge of SEO is a plus.
  • Your exact tasks will be determined in consultation, taking into account both your personal availability and the specific requirements and guidelines of your study program.

What do we ask?

  • You have an affinity for contemporary art and (youth) culture.
  • You are currently enrolled in a university of applied sciences program in (visual) communication.
  • You have excellent command of both Dutch and English.
  • You possess strong communication skills and strategic insight.
  • You are familiar with new and social media.
  • You can work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • You are open to feedback but can also confidently follow your own vision.
  • You can start in mid-September 2025, are available on Saturdays from 12:00–14:00, and your weekday hours are negotiable.
