In 2013, Marres initiated the Euregional talent development program Currents: a yearly group exhibition showcasing the works of recent graduates from academies in Belgium, Germany and the south of the Netherlands, installed by a young curator’s duo. The exhibition is framed by a broader coaching trajectory that focuses on training, network and professionalization of the participants.
In 2018, Marres welcomed Z33, House for Contemporary Art, Design and Architecture in Hasselt (BE) as a coproducing partner in this platform for professionalization. Marres and Z33 yearly alternate as organizing party. Since 2013, over 160 young artists from 12 academies and 20 curators have participated and received the opportunity to substantially deepen their practice. Other partners are Kunstpodium T (Tilburg) and FLACC (Genk, BE).
