We’re thrilled to announce the curators for the twelfth edition of Currents, the annual group exhibition that brings together recently graduated artists from across the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. For Currents 12, curators Maia Kenney and Berber Meindertsma have been selected to develop and guide the upcoming edition, opening in February 2026 at Jester in Genk.

Maia and Berber, based in the Netherlands, bring a shared commitment to creating thoughtful, generous frameworks for emerging artistic practices. With a background in curating, writing, and education, they have worked together since 2022 to develop a collaborative curatorial methodology grounded in care, equity, and experimentation. Together with the team at Het HEM, they launched The Couch, an artistic and editorial digital platform supporting new commissions by emerging artists.

Maia and Berber plan to shape Currents 12 as a project that not only presents new work to the public but also helps young artists build lasting networks and skills they can carry with them. The exhibition will be embedded in a broader mentoring and residency trajectory, co-organised by Marres (Maastricht), Ludwig Forum Aachen, and KANAL-Centre Pompidou (Brussels) and Jester (Genk).

Exhibition: Currents 12 will run from mid February – mid May 2026 at Jester in Genk. Stay tuned as Currents 12 unfolds over the coming months. We’re excited to welcome Maia and Berber on board and can’t wait to see what they build with the graduating artists of 2025!
