Open Call: Extras Wanted for Leopold Emmen

In November, filming for The house where we used to live will take place at Marres. The project is by filmmaker Nanouk Leopold and visual artist Daan Emmen (Leopold Emmen), whose installations merge film and spatial experience: not just on screen, but physically surrounding the viewer.

For this new work (on view in 2027 at Marres), we are looking for extras of all ages. Filming: Nov 12, 2025.

Leopold Emmen explore the different characteristics of a house and its inhabitants, and how external forces can put people’s lives under pressure. The film tells the story of two women living together in a house, until one day a large group of strangers enters and decides to live there as well. The scenes are abstract and without dialogue – you might lie on the floor as if asleep, sit on the stairs, or move through a hallway.

For these group scenes, we are looking for you. No experience needed! We invite everyone to apply – also possible as couple or family or with roommates or friends. Please spread this open call!

Interested?

Apply through this form. After you sign up, we’ll get in touch with you! For questions, you can send an email to werken@marres.org with the subject line Extra Leopold Emmen. Unfortunately, there is no compensation, but a nice lunch by Marres Kitchen will be provided during the shoot.

Behind the scenes with Leopold Emmen

7 & 14 November 2025

In November, Marres will host the recordings for The House where we used to live by filmmaker Nanouk Leopold and visual artist Daan Emmen (Leopold Emmen). Their installations explore the boundary between film and space: not a conventional screen, but an experience that physically surrounds you.

On Friday, November 7, Nanouk Leopold and Daan Emmen will give you a sneak peek behind the scenes of their film project at Marres, just before filming kicks off the following week. Then, on Friday, November 14, once the cameras have stopped rolling, you can explore the set yourself while they share the stories and insights from the shoot.
