My name is Hyunsuh Kim, and I am a psychology student in the University of Amsterdam. The artwork that I would like to introduce today is Gustav Klimt’s Danaë (1907). I chose this painting as it has always fascinated me with a beautiful and warm depiction of a mythological tale. In addition to psychology, I am deeply interested in cultural studies, philosophy and the arts, and this painting too mingles ideas from various disciplines. I see myself as a hoarder — of names, books, websites, music, stories, tea, smells, specimens, rocks, canvases. I look forward to Marres’s increasing collection of people’s favorite paintings!
