During the summer of 2017, Marres invited a group of performers to interact with the exhibition The Painted Bird: Dreams and Nightmares of Europe. The program with a series of performances that was called Marres Movements added moving bodies and musical performances to the landscape of wall paintings and a soundtrack. The exhibition transformed into a massive stage set for performance, dance and music.
Performers and dancers entered the exhibition during opening hours with several improvised pieces and interventions and a musical tour through Maastricht. During the evenings, the program contained fully scripted pieces.
