In 2020 Marres Extended has researched contemporary culture with all their senses. The group this year has been formed by young people from local high schools, the AZC in Heerlen and the Internation school in Maastricht.
The starting point was the Limburg Biënnale in Marres. This exhibition presented more than 250 artworks by over 150 artists from Limburg and the surrounding area. In different experiments the group researched the senses in relation to this exhibition. The central themes were art, culture, the sensory experience and sharing stories. Extended welcomed young people from Boost Your Talent and the AZC in Heerlen.
But how can you tell stories if you do not speak each other’s language? Together, by combining words from each language they created stories and poems inspired by the artworks in the exhibition in Marres. The result is a beautiful way of finding words.
Listen to one of the poems through the link above, by Roxanne from Iran en Ismael from Senegal.
